Arbour Vale School - Dance
The Dance Curriculum is divided into four main areas:

Creation and performance of dances using a range of complex and imaginative movement patterns and techniques.

Use of a range of dance styles and forms using rhythm, speed, level and direction.

Use of compositional principles.

Application of performance skills to communicate ideas and feelings.

Key to our dance development is an innovative approach to liked themes. We combine maths and dance to learn about connections and systems. We link sports movements to dance improvisation to create lively, pupil involved performances. Pupils of all age, male & female engage in a broad activity of dance for us including Street Dance, Indian dance, Caribbean dance, African dance, traditional, modern and improvisation

Aspects of the Physical Education Curriculum are also found in the Dance Curriculum on a cross-curricular basis.

Out of hours activities include lunch time dance clubs as well as rehearsals for numerous performances both within school and at exterior venues.
