Admissions Criteria
Residential Education Provision
All requests for admissions are via the Local Authority.
Applications/referrals will be considered at the Special Educational Needs Advisory Panel.
Priority will be given to Children and Young People (CYP) living in the borough of Slough. Requests from outside the borough will be considered according to suitability and available places.
All admissions will be agreed by a multi-agency Residential Admissions Panel; including the Head Teacher, Director of Autism, Head of Residential Education and Care, Head of Service for children with LDD and the Manager of LDD, or assigned representative, under the leadership of the school.
All admissions, four night and part-time, will be dependent on educational targets for the pupil being identified and agreed by the admissions panel and parents. These targets will be derived from objectives within the Statement. Progress against these targets will be reviewed as part of the Annual Review process or through an Interim Review.
Prior to the multi-agency meeting, a structured assessment will take place by the Head Teacher of AVS and/or Director of Autism or Residential school staff and appropriate professional. At least one visit should be made to the current educational setting and the CYP’s home.
Monday – Thursday, (four night), placements will be available for a number of CYP with a diagnosis of ASD and/or communication, interaction difficulties and related challenging behaviour.
A further number of places will be available as short-term variable length stays in order to meet a variety of specified short-term educational objectives for CYP with a diagnosis of ASD and/or communication, interaction and/or related challenging behaviour.
Suitability of placement will be considered each year at the Annual Review of SEN or at an interim review if necessary.
Admissions arrangements will be discussed and agreed with parents/carers and other agencies involved with the family. Targets will be worked on across all settings; home, residential and school.
