Berkshire Youth Games   On Sunday the 2nd of July, the MLD girls and boys football teams, representing Slough, headed off to Bradfield near Reading, for a fun filled day of competition. The Slough team consisted of around 85% of students from Arbour Vale.  The teams were organised and managed by Kevin Hughes.   On arrival we were disappointed to discover that a majority of the teams had dropped out of the competition at the last minute.  Our disappointment quickly turned to glee when we were told that we would have a coaching clinic in the morning with some qualified coaches, followed by a series of three games and topped off with a penalty shoot out competition instead.  Even greater excitement followed with the success achieved on the day with Slough taking home the Gold for the boys and Silver for the girls.  The boys also won the penalty shootout, so it was medals and trophies all round.    It was great to see the number of staff from other departments (thanks Cara and Julie) supporting the students, as well as the number of mums and dads who came along – it all helped add to the morale of the day.   Success was with us once again!!
